MASS media was what it said - huge hoardings of giant pictures, thousands of copies of glossy magazines, expensive TV technicolour talking to large audiences in the hope of picking up a certain level of penetration of message
MICRO media using the web reverses the process. It is small scale but accurate. The audience is defined. The messages are targeted. It is uses the web as its medium but to call it a web site is a misnomer. Micro media uses any or all the web space and web tools like blogs, newsletters, video social networking to deliver.
MICRO is about communication whether that audience has two people, 20, 200 or 2,000+. It is pin point accurate.
